California Proposition 65 Disclosure

Important Information for California Customers

California’s Proposition 65 (officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) is a consumer information law that requires businesses to provide warnings about potential exposure to certain chemicals that the State of California has identified as possibly causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

These warnings are required even when the presence of such substances is extremely small, well below levels considered harmful by federal agencies such as the FDA.

Why You May See a Proposition 65 Warning

Some dietary supplements—particularly those made with natural ingredients—may contain trace amounts of naturally occurring elements, such as heavy metals (for example: lead, arsenic, cadmium, or mercury), that are commonly found in soil, water, and plant-based ingredients.

While these trace amounts are often well within federal safety guidelines, California’s Prop 65 law has much stricter thresholds, which can require a warning even when there is no actual health risk.

What a Proposition 65 Warning Means (and Does Not Mean)

A Prop 65 warning:

  • Does NOT mean the product is unsafe

  • Does NOT mean the product violates FDA regulations

  • Does NOT mean the product will cause harm

It simply means that California law requires disclosure when exposure to certain listed substances could exceed the state’s extremely conservative warning thresholds.
